Important Rules

1. No entry fees or registration fees for this competition! FREE!!

2. Categories: Children (<16 yrs), YOUTH (17-25 yrs), General (26-59 yrs), Seniors (>60 yrs). It is open to all including our Lyrics Participants, Advisors, Jury Members (of our KLC2024 panels), Collaborators etc.

3. While Konkani Lyrics of Global Hits found on our website would be preferred the participants are allowed to modify these lyrics or even create their own new Konkani Covers for non-Konkani Hits not found on our website. But, it must be a full-length Konkani Cover which can be sung to a Karaoke/Minus1 track of the original non-Konkani song.

4. Must sing full-length of the original song. Shorts are strictly NOT allowed but you are allowed to truncate/skip long instrumental parts in your song so that your video is focussed on your singing.

5. Your singing video may be recorded with just your smartphone. The audio must be very clear while the video quality is irrelevant.

6. While your singing video should ideally show you live singing the song(s), you may lip-synch to your pre-recorded audio for some dramatization/acting (if you want to engage the audience better). BUT this will incur you 30 penalty points.

7. We understand that many great voice/singing artists are not public/stage performers. Hence we will also consider videos which do not show the singer singing but instead shows slides or other footage while the audio plays. BUT this will incur you 30 penalty points.

8. Made mistakes while recording?? No worries!! Just re-record those parts and patch it up. You may even record your singing video/audio in parts and edit them together to make your complete song.

9. Your showmanship, attire, make-up, acting, facial expressions etc. ARE NOT RELEVANT for our competition at all stages (even for the FINALS) and will carry no weightage whatsoever. Only your raw "Natural Singing Skills" matter to us.

10. Music accompaniment for your singing should preferably be a Karaoke/Minus1 track heard at lower volume just to guide your singing and timing, and also it will help the audience relate to the original non-Konkani Global Hit song that you are now singing in Konkani. You may as well sing without any music or you may use your own musical instruments for accompaniment. The choice is totally yours!

11. MOST IMPORTANT RULE: Your recorded video must have your un-adulterated "Natural Singing Voice" very clearly heard in it. NO artificial voice enhancements allowed at any stage. Any evidence of artificial voice enhancements will lead to disqualification after its verification by our affiliated experts. Not even a Participation Certificate will be given to such participants.

12. Closest reference point for making your simple and natural singing video is what was seen in the Round1 contestants' videos at the recent AikatMozoTavo competition. Their videos are still online and you can get some ideas/inspiration from those: https://aikatmozotavo.co.uk/contestents-view

13. It is recommended that you post your video(s) on your own social media channels so that your followers can easily Like and Share.

14. However if you have a genuine constraint to post it (say you are not on any social media) then we could post it for you but only on our YouTube channel. You will have to provide all details (ie. Title, Description, Hashtags etc.) besides your video(s) to us. And you will be solely responsible to circulate its link among your friends/network to get Likes for it as there will be no publicity for it from our side in any form inorder to be fair to all other participants.

15. While you may record and publish as many KLC2024 lyrics-based song videos as you like BUT you are allowed to register maximum 5 entries only per participant for our competition. So choose only your best 5 and register those.

16. Participation Certificates will be given to all participants with valid registered entries and having no violations of our rules explained here.

17. Weightage considered for Top20 shortlisting: 80% for your Natural Singing Skills + 20% for the "Likes" that your single video post gathers on any one (not all) of your social media channels. "Likes" will NOT be added up across multiple channels and shares. Make sure that you submit the correct link to your video-post with the maximum Likes while registering your entry with us.

18. Max. only 2 entries per participant will be considered for Top20 inorder to avoid few participants, unintentionally, dominating the finals and, to give opportunities to other singers. And while both entries of a participant may make it to the Top10 Finalists only 1 entry per participant will be considered for the Top5 places in the Finals results.

19. If any potential Top20 singer is suspected of artificial voice enhancements then he/she will be asked to sing live on a Google Meet session with us which will be recorded and reviewed by our affiliated experts to accordingly decide on the Top20.

20. Still if any singer cheats his/her way into the Top20 Semi-Finalists then it would be better for him/her to make some excuse and pull out of the Semi-Finals (ie. Top20) immediately after we announce the Top20 list so that the next genuine participant(s) in the queue can get into Top20 and perform at the Semi-Finals. And save yourself public embarassment.

21. The Top20 Semi-Finalists will be listed on our website alongwith their singing videos so that people can vote for them on our website in the run up to the LIVE Semi-Finals, wherein 10% of the Semi-Finals score weightage will be given to these votes to decide the Top10 Finalists. Remaining 90% will go solely towards your LIVE singing performance in the Semi-Finals, with no weightage given for your score from the earlier stage.

22. Top20 Semi-Finalists have to sing LIVE in-person only their shortlisted song(s) for the Semi-Finals while the Top10 Finalists can change the song they sing in the Finals if they wish.

23. This NOT being a "Memorization" contest you are allowed to refer either a printed or a digital copy of the Konkani Lyrics for your songs. You may do this in your singing video as well as in the Semis/Finals without incurring any penalty points.

24. The Semis and Finals singing will not have any artificial effects (not even Reverb) but only the Minus1/Karaoke track, if provided by the participant to us, will be played as accompaniment. No software or hardware will be accepted from the singer.

25. Instead of a Minus1/Karaoke track you may choose to use a musical instrument for live accompaniment BUT you will get ONLY A SINGLE MIC for your singing and none for your instrument. This is to avoid complications and loss of time from micing musical instruments. LET'S FOCUS SOLELY ON YOUR "NATURAL SINGING" PLEASE!!

26. Your LIVE singing on the stage must start within 1 minute of your name being announced. Your delays, barring any from our side, will cost you penalty points @ 1 negative point per every 5 seconds of delay. Neither you nor us want to bore the audience waiting for you to start singing.

27. With our focus strictly on your "Natural Singing Skills" and knowing that many great voice/singing artists are not public/stage performers, you will be allowed upto 2 Stop-&-Restarts in the Semis and Finals without any penalties. Afterall we are keen to experience and enjoy your beautiful voice, not your showmanship!​​​​​​​

28. Organizers’ decision will be final and binding on all matters related to this contest. Be assured of fair and objective decision-making from our side to uphold the main objective of this contest.

29. All rules, terms, conditions, explanations etc. pertaining to this contest as explained here on this website will prevail over any and all our content/posts published on social media. This website will serve as our single source of truth to avoid any possible confusions. Do point out any inconsistencies you notice in our social media posts or even between sections/pages of this website and we will gladly accept and correct it keeping in mind the overall objectives of this contest.
