Challenge #1: Konkani "Oh Holy Night" by Xmas2025 like Mariah Carey!
A spillover from Xmas2024, here's a well-intended Rs.1.1 Lac worth challenge to all Konkani singers, Catholic/Christian as well as others, from bathroom singing novices to the greatest Konkani Singers. How many can really beat either Mariah Carey's year 2000 rendition (taken as our gold benchmark) or the 42 others from a dozen languages across the world seen in our Explainer Videos?! You have 11 months to practice and develop the Vocal Range and Skills required to truly do justice to it....and you can do it! This challenge is with all due-respects to our singing greats but at the same time cognisant of the harsh fact that despite the abundance of natural singing talents and ubiquitous music traditions our Konkani Singing World overall lacks the global standards and numbers witnessed in other musically inclined cultures of the world. Humbly request you to take it in the right spirit to make things better....together!

Over 300 pages of Konkani Lyrics plus 24 full-colour pages with interesting KLC2024 details including profiles of all our Advisors, Facilitators, Jury Members, Volunteers and Participants.
A limited print run of just 300 copies is planned, over 50% of which have been and are being gifted freely to our Advisors, Facilitators, Jury Members, Volunteers, Participants, Sponsors and others in gratitude for their priceless contributions to our KWM initiatives. Remaining copies are now available for Rs.650 each, with all resulting earnings going towards KLC2024 expenditure, and surplus, if any, funding our next non-profit Konkani music initiatives/contests.

KLC2024 began in May'24 as a short personal passion project to conclude the Konkani Rock project that Vincent Toscano had initiated with Joi Barua (Assamese Musician, Singer, Composer) in 2014. However after the first attempt failed KLC2024 was re-launched in June'24 and after very low traction for couple months it picked up towards August-end with registrations over 3x our expectations!
Since then it has sprouted a number of new branches, which helped keep our participants creatively engaged while our rigorous evaluations by 3 panels spanned 3 long months:

KLC2024 Awards Nite at a reputed venue in Panaji on 22.Dec.2024 (Sunday) evening with a no-frills ceremony simply celebrating the Konkani spirit of the beautiful lyrical work crafted by our amazing participants in service of our collective avoi-bhas Konkani!
IMPORTANT: All KWM/KLC2024 accounts are public here with no profit/honorarium/remuneration taken by anybody from Uzoorba Technologies LLP. No honorarium has been paid to our Advisors, Jurists and Volunteers who have donated their precious personal time for this contest for the love of Konkani. Also no participants have been or are being paid any royalty for their lyrics so far. Lastly, NO Entry/Registration Fees have been charged to anybody!

Even though KLC2024 is Vincent Toscano's brainchild ground-up it would not have materialized if not for these key advisors and their support. Janice Parras' Youth Appeal confirmation and inputs right at the inception and, her key role in shaping the crucial Junior Singer/Musician Jury; alongwith our Chief Advisor, Roque Lazarus's resounding concept approval, priceless guidance and unlimited connections across the Goan musicscape; alongwith Sangeeta Naik's concept validation for a unified Goan Hindu-Christian Konkani appeal besides her many contacts; alongwith Dr. Glenis Mendonca's inputs towards framing linguistic evaluations besides her connections and Jury formation guidance...the list is endless! All entries were screened for compliance with our published rules, and also to maintain secular nature of our contest.
Junior Music Jury
Our heartfelt gratitude to this young jury panel from Chorao, who meticulously reviewed each line from the 117 Konkani Lyrics entries for Meter and Rhyme besides grading each entry for its Youth Appeal and rating the accompanying Lyrics Demo Audios for Lyrical Meter. This required them to consciously set aside their own personal preferences related to music genres, melodies and Konkani dialects, and quickly familiarize with unfamiliar Global Hits to do justice to each entry. The entire process was structured and overseen by KLC2024 Organizer, Vincent Toscano, across multiple sessions spanning October 2-20, 2024.
The 2 sub-panels in this jury were very ably led by Janice Parras and Xavier D'Mello.

The FINALISTS resulting from the evaluations of our Konkani Linguistic Jury and Senior Music Jury.
Public Voting
A simple yet effective Voting System was designed by Uzoorba and developed by Niloday Tamhankar using a 5-point Hearts scale "qualitative rating" rather a "dumb, binary vote" model. Within 8 days (ie. 12:00 IST 12.12.2024 to 15:00 IST 20.12.2024), 14597 Hearts were showered on the Top25 Finalists Lyrics through 2970 votes cast by 2531 people visiting our website!!! A voter could cast only a single vote per song but could change his/her rating while the Public Voting was open.
It turned out to be a fun way for our participants to make people aware of their beautiful lyrical work!

Goa, the land of talent, shines through this contest, which brings out the best from every participant to perform and express themselves in rhythmic and creative ways. It serves as a platform for budding lyricists to craft lyrics with artistic flair while offering them the opportunity to showcase their work on a larger stage. I'm thrilled to have participated in the Konkani Lyrics Contest 2024, a one-of-a-kind event in Goa. My wife encouraged me to take part and I chose 4 global hits to re-imagine in Konkani: ‘My Heart Will Go On’ - A heartfelt love song of a young Goan couple, ‘Magic in the Air’ - A vibrant ‘Goa Song’ celebrating the state's diversity and culture, ‘Summer of 69’ - A nostalgic tale of first love in a Goan school setting, and, ‘You Raise Me Up’ - a poignant mother song.
