Rules & Prizes
Very simple rules aimed at celebrating "Oh Holy Night" in our beloved Konkani in all possible music genres!! Just enjoy singing it this Christmas season!

You may use our Konkani Lyrics or you may modify those or create your own Konkani lyrics if you wish.

You may use other languages (viz. English) in your song but 1 Full Verse plus the Climactic section MUST be in Konkani.

You may sing solo or in a group in any music genre/style: with music accompaniment OR without any music OR in Acapella style (ie. only voices in harmonies).

For music accompaniment you may use Live Instruments or a Minus1 Track of your choice, or contact us for a Custom Minus1 Track for any song in our Reference Playlists below.

Your singing audio and/or video may be simply recorded with a smartphone OR professionally done in a studio.

Publish your recorded singing video online on any social media and submit its link and details in our Registration Form by the given deadline. Alternatively, we can host your video on our website if you have constraints or face any difficulties with social media.

Maximum 2 entries may be registered per participant/group for this competition by submitting the Registration Form twice.

Evaluations will be based solely on your online video as per the following criteria: Pitch Accuracy, Timing Accuracy, Vocal Clarity, Vocal Range, and, Vocal Dynamics.

Results will be announced on social media and the press by 31-Dec-2025.

All valid entries will get digital (softcopy) Participation Certificates.

Top10 Winners will get digital Winner Certificates while Trophies and Cash Prizes are subject to sponsorships.

AI-Powered Music
On 6-Sep-2025 we released our first album, Urben Uttuya! (“Let’s rise with exuberance!”), under our inhouse music label, Urben Utah! Thanks to the AI music production platform, Suno, our decade-long pursuit of infusing new global sounds into Konkani music could finally be accomplished. More music to follow!
The Panaji evening of February 22, 2025 echoed with dozens of popular Global Hit melodies sung as beautiful new Konkani Gits (songs) in over a dozen Konkani dialects by 42 Konkani contestants from both the Goan Hindu and Catholic communities!
Our Solo Konkani Singing Competition, based on altogether new Konkani Gits originating from our Konkani Lyrics Contest 2024, received 103 entries from singers ranging 5–75 year-olds from Goa and Mangalore. After an internal evaluation the best 48 entries made it to the Semi-Finals.
Besides the participants many people contributed towards garnering such a great response to our very unusual singing competition, foremost being Fr. Ramiro Luis and Fr. Bolmax Pereira, who arranged for this great call to the youth by the amazing Myron Lucas of The 7 Notes Band. We are ever grateful.

42 singers from across Goa and Mangalore sang their shortlisted 44 new Konkani Gits from KLC2024 in the Semi-Finals and then 17 in the Finals on 22-Feb-2025 resulting in the following Top10 winners.

Our Little Stars!!
A special Under-10 category was created to avoid 5 little kids competing with older ones in the Children (upto 16 years) category, and were each celebrated for their singing with an especially-designed “Our Cute Little Star” trophy.
New Konkani Gits
Three beautiful new Konkani Gits (beyond KLC2024) based on popular Global Hits were performed live in our Solo Singing Competition finals.

The jury panel was gracefully and efficiently led by Sonia Shirsat (“Best Fadista of India” and
"Goan Music’s Ambassador to the World" from Ponda), and comprising of Madonna
Fernandes (Saxophonist, Violinist, Singer and Actress from Santa Cruz), Selvyn
Braganza (Trumpeteer and Violinist from Merces) and Ezekiel Gomes (Multi-instrumentalist
and Singer from Seraulim). Dr. Glenis Mendonca was the main advisor towards fine-tuning the structure and promotion of this unusual singing competition.

KLC2024 began in May'24 as a small personal mission to finally conclude the Konkani Rock project Vincent Toscano had initiated with Joi Barua (Assamese Musician, Singer, Composer) in 2014. After a few initial hiccups it roared to life by late August'24 with registrations shooting to more than three times what we expected. What followed was far bigger than a contest with KLC2024 branching out into a creative ecosystem of its own:

Participating lyricists collaborated to refine submitted entries as well as to create new Konkani lyrics for more Global Hits.

A 328-page Song Book emerged featuring all newly-minted Konkani lyrics plus the story of KLC2024 and its people.

Prize money was significantly increased and additional prizes introduced to appreciate all this amazing extra work.

Custom-designed laser-engraved trophies and mementoes were made to commemorate this unique project.

A Solo Singing Competition, exclusively using KLC2024 lyrics, was organized on 22-Feb-2025.

These unprecedented new value-additions to Konkani music have come at a huge financial cost to us and without your support our non-profit KWM work will come to a stop very soon. All our accounts are public here with no profit / honorarium / remuneration taken by anybody from Uzoorba Technologies LLP. No lyricists have been or are being paid any royalty nor have any Entry/Registration Fees been charged to anybody.
The shortfall of Rs.1.65 Lacs (excl. KLC2024 Advisors
Even though KLC2024 is Vincent Toscano's brainchild ground-up it would not have materialized if not for these key advisors and their support. Janice Parras' Youth Appeal confirmation and inputs right at the inception and, her key role in shaping the crucial Junior Singer/Musician Jury; alongwith our Chief Advisor, Roque Lazarus's resounding concept approval, priceless guidance and unlimited connections across the Goan musicscape; alongwith Sangeeta Naik's concept validation for a unified Goan Hindu-Christian Konkani appeal besides her many contacts; alongwith Dr. Glenis Mendonca's inputs towards framing linguistic evaluations besides her connections and Jury formation guidance...the list is endless! Junior Music Jury
Our heartfelt gratitude to this young jury panel from Chorao, who meticulously reviewed each line from the 117 Konkani Lyrics entries for Meter and Rhyme besides grading each entry for its Youth Appeal and rating the accompanying Lyrics Demo Audios for Lyrical Meter. This required them to consciously set aside their own personal preferences related to music genres, melodies and Konkani dialects, and quickly familiarize with unfamiliar Global Hits to do justice to each entry. The entire process was structured and overseen by KLC2024 Organizer, Vincent Toscano, across multiple sessions spanning October 2-20, 2024.
The 2 sub-panels in this jury were very ably led by Janice Parras and Xavier D'Mello.

I'm thrilled to have participated in the Konkani Lyrics Contest 2024, a one-of-a-kind event in Goa. My wife encouraged me to take part and I chose 4 global hits to re-imagine in Konkani: ‘My Heart Will Go On’ - A heartfelt love song of a young Goan couple, ‘Magic in the Air’ - A vibrant ‘Goa Song’ celebrating the state's diversity and culture, ‘Summer of 69’ - A nostalgic tale of first love in a Goan school setting, and, ‘You Raise Me Up’ - a poignant mother song.
